A Message from Our Staff

Welcome to the Veteran Services Section, WORKFORCE West Virginia Welcome Site!

In accordance with Title 38, US Code PL 107-288 and State Legislation, qualified Veterans are entitled to receive priority in all Employment and Training Programs and Services. The Employment Service, a partner in the WORKFORCE West Virginia One-Stop Career Centers, is the delivery agent for US Department of Labor-funded employer and training programs. Services are provided to Veterans through a network of 17 Job Service offices in West Virginia.

Currently West Virginia is divided into 7 service delivery areas, served by 8 Local Veteran Employment Representatives and 5 Disabled Veterans Outreach Program Specialists. Each office has available to them trained staff who work exclusively with Veterans and who ensure that all other Career Center and Job Service staff provide Veterans Priority of Service.

You may be entitled to priority services if you served full-time in the active U.S. Military, or as a National Guard or Reserve member called to active duty for more than 180 days. If you are not sure, ask to speak with a Veteran Services Representative. You will need to provide a copy of your DD-214.

Our knowledgeable and friendly staff is available to assist you with your job search activities. Some offices provide assistance with preparation of cover letters, resumes, thank-you notes, internet navigation assistance, and video work shops. On-line registration is available to those with availability to access the internet.

Offices are equipped with self-help computers located within local one stop offices, and are available for your use in locating employment or the creation of your own cover letters, resumes and thank-you notes.

Are you a Veteran? or a Disabled Veteran?
Local Veterans Employment Representatives and Disabled Veteran Outreach Program Specialists are available to assist you with your special needs. As Veteran Services Representatives work on a regional basis we request you call ahead for dates and times specific for your local area.
