Introduction:

This directory of publications, distributed by the Office of Research, Information and Analysis, West Virginia Bureau of Employment Programs, has been compiled to assist those in search of employment statistics by providing a list of available references. This information is prepared under the several federal/state cooperative programs within Research, Information and Analysis, which include the Covered Employment and Wages program (ES-202 quarterly reporting system), the Current Employment Statistics program, the Occupational Employment Statistics program, Mass Layoff Statistics program, the Local Area Unemployment Statistics program, and the state and local Employment Statistics program. Forthcoming in the next year will be occupational safety statistics from the Occupational Safety and Health Survey program.  In addition, this directory lists federal sources and publications as a supplement to the information disseminated by this research section.

• West Virginia Economic Summary -
• A monthly newsletter of economic activity in West Virginia, the Economic Summary includes a variety of employment and unemployment data for the state, metropolitan areas, regions and counties. Additional features include women's employment data, hours and earnings, economic indicators, and data from the Bureau's Workers' Compensation, Unemployment Compensation, and Employment Service. • West Virginia and Service Delivery Areas Annual Planning Information -
• A narrative analysis of the economy, including employment and unemployment trends for the next fiscal year. Also includes population characteristics, socio-economic information and tables of historical and projected labor force, employment by industry, unemployment data, and other workforce data. [LMI 121]

• Affirmative Action Information -
• This annual publication contains labor market information required by employers for completing federal and state contract compliance regulations. Female and minority labor force data in statewide, metropolitan statistical area, and county formats are provided. Also contains information on population, employment and unemployment by age and sex, and occupations of applicants registered at local job service offices. [LMI 113]

• West Virginia County Profiles -
• Published annually, this series of reports presents a county-by-county description of basic economic, employment, and demographic data. Published in a complete collection or available by individual counties on request. [LMI 147]

• Employment and Earnings Trends -
• This publication contains annual summary tables for nonfarm payroll employment and hours and earnings of production workers by industry. Includes female nonfarm payroll employment by industry and seasonally adjusted data.  [LMI 200]

• Employment and Wages -
• This report contains detailed employment and wage data by industry and by county, for all workers covered by state and federal unemployment insurance programs. [LMI 201]

• West Virginia Occupational Wages -
• Based upon continuing surveys of business and industry for occupational employment and wages, this is the first comprehensive occupational/industrial wage information for West Virginia. Updated and published annually for the state, seven metropolitan statistical areas (MSAs) with West Virginia components, and three sub-state regions.  Available only on the internet site with links to comparable data nationwide.

• A historical compilation of detailed nonfarm payroll employment and hours and earnings data from the Current Employment Statistics program. [LMI 200H]

• West Virginia Occupational Projections -
• This publication, updated periodically, offers a detailed look at total annual average job openings for selected occupations at projected employment levels. The data are published at the statewide level, and will soon be available for the state's Workforce Investment Act regions. Openings are the sum of job growth, separations from the labor force, and transfers. [LMI 123]

• This report compiles occupations requiring licensure in the state. Lists qualifications, examinations, and/or fees needed to obtain specific licenses. [LMI 148]
