What is Rapid Response?>

Rapid Response is an activity that happens when a dislocation occurs. Rapid Response teams plan and deliver services to enable dislocated workers to transition to new employment as quickly as possible.

What is a dislocation?>

A dislocation is a permanent closure, mass layoff, or natural or other disaster that results in a mass job loss to the involved employees through no fault of their own.

What is a dislocated worker?>
|
|
A dislocated worker is someone who, through no fault of their own, has become unemployed due to a business closing or mass layoff.

What are the “services” provided by Rapid Response?>
|
|
Services provided by Rapid Response include:

Group meetings providing overview of available re-employment and transition services.
|
|
|
Group workshops on resume writing, surviving a layoff, etc.
|
|
|
Group unemployment claim-taking Sessions
|
|
How are dislocations discovered?>
|
|
Dislocations information can be found through the following:

Public Notice
|
|
|
Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act
|
|
|
Newspaper or other media reports
|
|
|
Notification by the Employer
|
|
|
State Dislocated Workers’ Services Unit
|
|
|
Local WorkForce Investment Board, and/or
|
|
|
Local One-Stop WorkForce offices
|

What happens when there is a dislocation?>
|
|
|
|
State Dislocated Worker Services Unit (DWSU) must be notified, regardless of the size of the dislocation.
|
|
|
DWSU notifies the West Virginia Industrial Development Office (WVDO).
|
|
|
WVDO gives clearance for Rapid Response services to be provided.
|
|
|
Meetings with the company and the appropriate WorkForce Investment Board (WIB) are arranged.
|
|
|
Dislocated workers are informed of the programs and services available to them.
|
